Another Ahwazi Civil Activist Arrested by the Iranian Intelligence Agencies

Majed Sari an Arab civil rights activist from Ahwaz was arrested yesterday by agents of the Iranian intelligence agencies in Ahwaz. Majed was transferred to an unknown location.

According to Ahwazi Centre for Human Rights (ACHR) sources in Ahwaz, Majed Sari was arrested by the Iranian intelligence in Ahwaz. He is a civil activist and student in the civil engineering. Mr Majed Sari, 26 years, from the Sayed Khalaf district of Ahwaz capital. He was transferred to an unknown place on Wednesday 15/08/2018.

The reasons for the detention and the whereabouts of this civil activist are not known. Majed Sari previously participated in protests against Karun water pollution and environmental pollution. It should be noted that in recent months, intelligence and security forces in AL-Ahwaz (Khuzestan province nowadays) have intensified their pressure on Arab activists, with more than a dozen Arab activists in Ahwaz and several other cities arrested by these forces. AL-Ahwaz has the most important oil and gas resources in the country but many people of Ahwaz, of its inhabitants live in poverty.
