Your support for our cause reflects your steadfast commitment to the principles of justice and human rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ladies and Gentlemen,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The right of peoples to self-determination is one of the fundamental principles established by international law, recognized in the Charter of the United Nations and numerous other international instruments and treaties. Article 1 of the UN Charter emphasizes the need to promote respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms for all peoples, including their right to self-determination without external interference. This right is not merely a legal principle but a foundation for achieving peace, coexistence, security, stability, and prosperity for peoples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Empowering peoples to determine their political and economic destiny directly contributes to enhancing global security and stability and fosters peaceful coexistence among nations. It also reinforces respect for international laws and conventions, particularly those governing relations between peoples, governments, and states on the basis of justice and equality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ladies and Gentlemen, Mr. Graham,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When we discuss the issue of the people of Grenland today, the cause of the Ahwazi people emerges as one of the most prominent unresolved issues. Ahwaz, which was subjected to military occupation by the Iranian authorities on April 20, 1925, continues to suffer grave violations of its people&#8217;s rights. Since then, its natural resources, particularly oil and gas, have been plundered, while its people are denied their most basic rights, including the right to education in their native language.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We have always affirmed our commitment to respecting international law and the right of peoples to self-determination in accordance with legal frameworks and international norms. This right is the optimal path to avoiding violence, wasting resources, and ensuring justice. These principles are grounded in a set of international laws and resolutions, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Legal Framework for the Right to Self-Determination<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>The United Nations Charter (1945):<\/em><br>Article 1, Paragraph 2 states that one of the purposes of the UN is to &#8220;develop friendly relations among nations based on respect for the principle of equal rights and self-determination of peoples.&#8221;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>The International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (1966):<\/em><br>Article 1 affirms that &#8220;all peoples have the right to self-determination. By virtue of that right, they freely determine their political status and freely pursue their economic, social, and cultural development.&#8221;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>United Nations General Assembly Resolution 1514 (1960):<\/em><br>Known as the &#8220;Declaration on the Granting of Independence to Colonial Countries and Peoples,&#8221; it affirms that &#8220;all peoples have the right to self-determination; by virtue of that right, they freely determine their political status and freely pursue their economic, social, and cultural development.&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Applying the Right to Self-Determination to the Ahwazi People<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Ahwazi people are among the most prominent examples of peoples still suffering from occupation and ethnic, cultural, and economic discrimination since the annexation of the Ahwaz region to Iran in 1925. Since then, the Ahwazi people have faced systematic violations, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>Political and Cultural Repression:<\/em><br>The Iranian authorities pursue policies aimed at erasing the Arab identity of the Ahwazi people, including banning the use of the Arabic language in educational and official institutions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Economic and Social Discrimination:<\/em><br>Despite the region&#8217;s wealth of natural resources, particularly oil and gas, the population suffers from extreme poverty, high unemployment rates, and a lack of sustainable development.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Human Rights Violations:<\/em><br>These violations include arbitrary arrests, extrajudicial killings, and restrictions on religious and cultural freedoms.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The International Community&#8217;s Duty Toward the Ahwazi People<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Under international law, the international community is obligated to respect and promote the right of the Ahwazi people to self-determination. This commitment requires the following actions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>Supporting Ahwazi Demands in International Forums:<\/em><br>International organizations and governments concerned with human rights must raise the Ahwazi issue at the UN Human Rights Council and refer it to relevant international courts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Pressuring the Iranian Regime:<\/em><br>States and the international community must impose strict sanctions on Iran for its ongoing human rights violations and work to diplomatically isolate it until it complies with international laws and standards.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Ensuring Ahwazi Participation in Determining Their Destiny:<\/em><br>A free and fair referendum must be organized under neutral international supervision, allowing the Ahwazi people to choose their political future freely, whether full independence, autonomy, or any other form they choose.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Protecting Human Rights:<\/em><br>International human rights organizations must document the violations faced by the Ahwazi people and work to bring those responsible to the International Criminal Court for prosecution.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ladies and Gentlemen,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The right to self-determination is not merely a legal principle enshrined in international instruments but a true expression of justice and human dignity. Like other peoples, the Ahwazi people have the full right to choose their future freely without any form of repression or discrimination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today, the international community bears a moral and legal responsibility to support this right and work to end all forms of occupation and oppression faced by oppressed peoples, including the Ahwazi people. There must be no double standards in dealing with the issues of peoples; international laws must be applied fairly and justly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Self-determination is a fundamental right, not a privilege granted by regimes.
