Violation of the Sovereignty of the State of Ahwaz by Iran

Iran’s occupation of Alahwaz territory is a blatant violation of the sovereignty of the Arab State of Al-Ahwaz, its territorial integrity, and its national security. This occupation breaches international law and the United Nations Charter, posing a threat to regional peace and security.

Al-Ahwaz has a significant strategic location and immense natural resources, especially in oil and gas. The history of this region dates back centuries before it was subjected to Iranian occupation in 1925. Since then, the area has experienced a series of violations, including racial, religious, and cultural discrimination.

National Sovereignty: The occupation of Al-Ahwaz by a foreign state is a clear violation of the sovereignty of the Arab State of Al-Ahwaz. The occupying state enforces forced demographic changes, marginalizes the Arab population, and changes the Arabic names of cities and villages to Persian names.

Territorial Integrity: The occupying state suppresses any attempts to revive Al-Ahwazi national identity, negatively impacting the territorial integrity of Al-Ahwaz.

National Security: The occupying state imposes repressive policies on the people of Al-Ahwaz, conducting widespread arrests of political activists and intellectuals, thereby threatening Al-Ahwaz’s national security and creating instability. International law principles and the United Nations Charter stipulate respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states. Iran’s occupation of Al-Ahwaz violates these fundamental principles, as Article 2(4) of the United Nations Charter prohibits the use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state.

The threat from the occupying state extends beyond Al-Ahwaz, encompassing the entire region. The occupying state is considered a sponsor of terrorism in the area, supporting armed groups in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, and Yemen. These policies lead to instability in the Middle East and threaten regional security.

Iran’s occupation of Al-Ahwaz represents a flagrant violation of international law and the United Nations Charter, posing a threat to regional peace and security. The international community must take a firm stance against these violations and support the right of the Al-Ahwazi people to self-determination and the restoration of their national sovereignty.

Enhancing International Support for Al-Ahwaz: Arab countries and the international community should provide political and diplomatic support to the people of Al-Ahwaz.

Imposing Sanctions on Iran: Sanctions should be imposed on Iran to stop its violations in Al-Ahwaz and deter it from continuing its repressive policies.

Raising the Issue in International Forums: The Al-Ahwaz issue should be brought up at the United Nations and other international organizations to increase awareness and pressure Iran to comply with international laws. By doing so, efforts can be strengthened to restore the legitimate rights of the Al-Ahwazi people and achieve peace and stability in the region.
